THE HISTORICAL CHURCHES IN ILOILO CITY PROPER

The Jaro Cathedral is among the churches in the Philippines that has its belfry separated from it, across the national highway and situated in Jaro's Plaza Historically, it was used as a "lookout" tower for sea raiders. It is the first and only cathedral in Panay built in 1864. One of its high points in Panay's history was the visit of Pope John Paul VI, conducting a mass in 1982.


















One of the most prominent landmarks in Iloilo City is the Church of St. Anne, which looms above the old Chinese district of Molo. Its towering gothic design distinguishes it from the typical baroque-influenced churches in the country. The recently restored dome hints at the design's Roamnesque arches. Complementing the gothic theme beautifully are the Corinthian columns running along the nave, each one hoisting an image of a female saint- a unique feature among all the churches in the Philippines. St. Anne Church is a short 10-minute drive from Iloilo City proper.


San Jose Church in the hear of Iloilo City evokes images of Italy rather than of colonial Spain. Completed towards the end of the 19th century, its soaring height is emphasized by two symmetrical belfries in quadrilateral fromat, highlighted by a balustrade on the fourth level- a feature that distinguishes this church from typical baroque churches in the country. It is one of the few remaining Augustinan designed and constructed churches in the country that remain under the administration of the order.

Yesterday

1. I slept @ 5 am. I did the scrap art for mixed media Monday that I did not notice the time.

2. I woke up passed 6 am to be ready for work.

3. I walked like a floating object on my way to the bank. I lost my TIN card on my way. huhuhu. I am not sure though if I brought it but I can't find it yet.

4. I amazed to see the cafe place where I used to stay. It's totally looked different. It's more dumpy now.

5. I bought grilled burgers for my client. I was looking to the whole place while waiting my order. Students were drinking beers @ 3pm.

6. I slept early to regain my energy after watching PDA.

Today

1. I dreamed of 76. I am in love of a machine. lol

2. I woke up late. Whatta refreshing morning for me.

3. Work deadline is over now but I missed to do online works!

4. I ordered a cup of rice for lunch but they gave me an extra rice. (It's not free. Nakasanayan nila kasi na 1 1/2 rice palagi ang order ko)

5. I feel sleepy but it's already 1:30pm. Work resume @ 2 pm.

6. Today is Wednesday. (Supposed to be I do tags on Tuesday.) I don't know what will happen later. The day is not yet over. But I have to end this tag now na.

PAVIA CHURCH

Last Sunday, I decided to go to the one of the Spanish colonial churches. It was actually unplanned. Pavia is just about 30 minutes away from the city of Iloilo. It was actually my second time to visit there.

The brick and the coral stone church is inspired by Romanesque designs, evident in the use of the Roman arch, the solidity of design and the repetitive placement of arch windows and portals.

The facade has a portico of three arches, decorated with a pair of Greek crosses

The flanks are pierced by pairs of arched windows on the lower floor and a rose windows on the second floor. The rounded ups completes the Romanesque design of the church.

I will continue my journey to the next Spanish colonial church that found here in Iloilo later.
Here, I stop for the meantime. I am so sleepy that I can't hardly open my eyes wide. I just had an hour of sleep today that's why.

PEACE OF MIND

For no any reason, I can't understand myself these last 3 days. I am pissed despite the good things and people around me. I feel something inside na kailangan kong ilabas as it is the right term. I can't think of any words. I need focus, I need self control. I have to stop myself. I know from the very beginning, I am the only one who can help myself. With this negative feeling, I can't blog as I want to. I can't express myself too. I can't do things right. Oh well. I need peace of mind.
