FSO- ILOILO IS THE HOME OF DINAGYANG FESTIVAL

Dinagyang is a festival of excellent choreography, a showcase of Ilonggo heritage and culture. It is as grand as Iloilo's old churches and mansions. It is as crisp as pinasugbong saging, as delectable as pancit molo and batchoy.

The festival was first started to celebrate the feast of the Sto. Niño. From a parish church festivity to honor the Child Jesus, the celebration has evolved to become a religious-cultural activity.

It is now a vehicle to promote Iloilo as a tourist and investment destination.

Through the years, the festival has gained national prominence and recognition by winning the national street dancing competition.

Now, people know that Dinagyang is Iloilo, and Iloilo is Dinagyang.
Viva Sr. Sto. Niño! Viva! Viva!

This week's photo theme in FRIDAY- MY TOWN SHOOT OUT is PREMIER ATTRACTION assigned by KENT. Come with me and let's discover the premier attraction of each participating town/city around the world.

Dinagyang Festival is, indeed, a premier attraction in your palce, Redlan! Beautiful and lovely! Wish I could visit Iloilo and witness this festival soon.

Nadumduman ko ang word nga 'dagyang'. Kapag naghahabulan at naghaharutan kami dati magpipinsan, sabi ni Lola, "Insa nga sige kamo ka dinagyang?!" Hahaha! Cool!
