A PIECE OF ART THAT TELLS A STORY

ZJ is one of the nicest bloggers I've known. We don't communicate online that much but she is so thoughtful of sending memorable things to me. And I really appreciate her kindness.

I inspired to make her a paper-photo craft. She is staying in Cambodia with her husband so the art is an inspired temple-like.

Recently, I was surprised to receive some gifts from here- a sling bag, bandana, bills, coins and a letter. Thanks to you ZJ!

This post is in connection of this week's art challenge in MIXED MEDIA MONDAY- a piece of art that tells a story by Diane.

Uyyy, ari gali diri nimo gin-post? Wow, blushing da me ha! hahaha.

The paper money are Khmer riels, in 100 and 500 denomination (US$1-4,000riels) but the coins are Thai bahts. We don't use coins in Cambodia. The bag is also made in Cambodia but some of your readers didn't know that. Elephants are iconic symbols and are revered in Buddhist countries such as Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Cambodia and many others. The bandanna naman is called a krama, it is a multi-purpose scarf -- pwedeng pang-bandanna, pang-tapis or pang-scarf o shawl. Back in 2000 when I was new in Cambodia, my colleagues and I used to bring krama whenever we go to the provinces kag we use it to cover ourselves when we go pee behind bushes... hahaha. There are few toilets in the countryside at that time. Imagine sa higad sang karsada kapangihi ko? Waaaaaahahaha.

Thanks for your feature!
