I will attend the church wedding of my college best friend tomorrow at exactly 2:30 in the afternoon. I will not report to work tomorrow then. Later this afternoon, I will meet Socsy, our common friend to find a special wedding gift for Renalie.
Wedding is the most memorable moment in couple’s life. It needs a lot of preparations though such as the wedding gown, the church, the reception, the wedding invitation and more. The word wedding is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word “wed” which means that the groom would vow to marry the woman. Literally, the root of the word “wedding” means to gamble or wager. Have you ever wondered what the first wedding ceremony was like? And do you know where the old saying “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” comes from? Actually, every part of a wedding has rich history from the engagement to the honey moon. Cultural roots, ancestry, and religious beliefs have shaped marriages for thousand of years. The earliest weddings were very different from our idea of marriage today. Some historians believe that the first wedding marriages may have actually been group weddings- marriage to the tribe. Marriage is a union between one man and woman as husband and wife. In marriage, two hands joined in friendship, two hearts joined in love and two lives joined as a beautiful part of God’s eternal life. “I want a Better Marriage”, is every woman’s wish.
A marriage is often formalized during a wedding ceremony which may be performed usually by religious officiant. Speaking of religious officiant, there is a Pastor who serves the ability to teach God’s word in a powerful way allowing listeners of all ages to easily learn and apply the principles of the Bible to their daily lives.
