TRAPPIST MONASTERY: THE POWER OF PRAYER

Trappist Monastery: Founded in 1972 by American monks it is located 12 kms. from Jordan Wharf. True to the Benedictine tradition, the monks engage in farming, growing guava, cashew and other tropical fruits and preparing jams and preserves, which are sold in the monastery’s souvenir shop. Proceeds from the shop support the monastery. The monastery also welcomes guests who want to spend a silent retreat in the premises.

THE ALTAR where the souvenir items bought is placed for blessing

THE MONK WITH HIS FAMILY: My officemate in green shirt together with her family. The monk is her uncle.

THE SOUVENIR SHOP: The group posed inside the souvenir shop. A lot of religious things to buy.

The chapel: we were able to join the monks during their prayer time. I asked for God's guidance and He answered my prayer right away. He wanted me to enjoy my visit that's why. I promised Him I'll visit the place once a month. I believe in the power of prayer.

MONKS COTTAGES: This area is restricted. I am curious what's inside. I want to see where they sleep and how they live inside. My officemate told me that it is allowed to observe them even just for three days. You have to engage in monks activities including farming though. That would be challenging.

From left to right: Imee, Ng Lydia, her daughter Jessa Raine, urs truly, April Vivien, Ng Neneng and Ng BABY(April's mother)

Dine with the monk: They called him Kuya. He is from Cavite. He is very accommodating and jolly.

Kuya(brother) is fond of talking- sharing his experiences and God's word. He corrected one of my officemates addressing him as father. Brother it should be .

I've been in Trappist Monastery thrice already but the 3rd time was the most memorable. Iba ang feeling pag marami. Masaya pero napakasolemn pa rin. And we were able to talk with some of the monks. I can't forget the place wherein God granted my request. He really made a way for me out of the problem. I will not miss the place because I will visit there again once a month.
