Senior citizen is a general designation for personas who have reached a certain age, which may vary by different standards. It is also used in place of traditional terms such as “old person” or elderly as a courtesy, intended to signify continuing relevance of, and respect for, this population group as “citizens” of society, of “senior” rank. The term was apparently coined in 1938 during a political campaign. In commerce, business offer “senior discounts”, sometimes with a special “senior discount card”. The age which qualifies for senior citizen status varies widely. In governmental contexts it is usually associated with an age at which pensions or medical benefits for the elderly become available. In commercial contexts, where it may serve as a marketing device to attract customers, the age is often significantly lower.

Senior citizen card benefits the holder. There is a discount for senior citizen card holder in buying medicines, grocery store, restaurants and other establishments and even in transportation fare. In a particular grocery store, there is a counter that is only for senior citizen consumers. Now, there is a chat room for senior citizen. Are you surprise? It is cool because unlike in business establishments where senior citizen card is needed and to be presented in order to avail the senior citizen discounts, in Senior Chat you don’t need to used your senior citizen card to access the chat room. It is not just a discounted access basis but a free access chat room. You can meet and talk to other senior citizens all over the world.
