Glasses can be a major part of personal expression. In popular movies, glasses were all the disguise of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and other lead movie characters. For some celebrities, eyeglasses form part of their identity as their trademark. Randy Santiago, a Philippine actor/singer wears sunglasses with darkened lenses to hide his defective eyes. Ugly Betty’s character is well-known for wearing big frames. The rock band Weezer is known for some of the members wearing thick-rimmed glasses. People who wear glasses are intelligent. Some wanted to look smart and nerdy. Glasses are fashionable to teen culture. Even though contact lenses and laser corrective eye surgery are popular nowadays, glasses are still common. It is because eyeglasses have improved when it comes to technology.
