THE SECOND CHOICE SOMETIMES TURNED POPULAR THAN THE WINNING STAR

Christian Bautista was a finalist of Star In A Million, a reality show on ABS-CBN channel, winning the 4^th runner place in the competition in 2003. He was the first thrust in the spotlight as ABS-CBN Star In A Million’s most popular non-winner. Christian’s international success began with “The Way You Look At Me” getting frequent airplay in Indonesian radio stations. He recently performed in a theatrical how “Wes Side Story. Last July 2008, his third studio album “Captured” was released.

Sherin Regis on the other hand, was a consistent top scorer of Star In A Million but eventually ended up as the first runner up to Erik Santos in January 2004. During SIAM, she was dubbed as the Powerbelter. She was given the name Shining Diva after the success of her debut album. She is known as the Philippines Modern Jukebox Queen since most of her songs was chosen as an official them song, she is associated with the name, Queen Teleserye theme Song. Now, she is one of the casts of I Love Betty La Fea who play the role of Kylie.

Lastly, Charice Pempengco joined Little Big Star in 2005 but she was eliminated right away after her very first performance. However, she was later called back as a wildcard contender and eventually worked her way up the finale show. She placed second runner up with Sam Concepcion winning the grand price. In 2007, a series of YouTube videos of Charice’s performances posted by an avid fan called FalseVoice brought her to popularity. Her videos have garnered more than 15 million viewers and still counting. She performed on South Korea’s StarKing; on Ellen DeGeneres Show; The Oprah Winfrey Show (twice); and surely more shows. She is one of the popular international singers of today’s generation.
