STA. BARBARA CHURCH: This may be one of the better restored and preserved churches of Iloilo. The church is an excellent example of Filipino baroque colonial style built in 1845.
It is made of adobe, but in some places, coral and red bricks could also be found. The architecture is chiefly Romanesque with the prominence of arched windows and the box-like structure of the building.
When the church was hit by an earthquake, the facade and the long side walls survived. The overall church construction exemplifies a refined and advanced stage of building technology at this early period.
One more historical church to post. I will visit this church somewhere in nothern part of Iloilo one of these days. It is quite different if you visit and experience the place, right?
