PAVIA CHURCH

Last Sunday, I decided to go to the one of the Spanish colonial churches. It was actually unplanned. Pavia is just about 30 minutes away from the city of Iloilo. It was actually my second time to visit there.

The brick and the coral stone church is inspired by Romanesque designs, evident in the use of the Roman arch, the solidity of design and the repetitive placement of arch windows and portals.

The facade has a portico of three arches, decorated with a pair of Greek crosses

The flanks are pierced by pairs of arched windows on the lower floor and a rose windows on the second floor. The rounded ups completes the Romanesque design of the church.

I will continue my journey to the next Spanish colonial church that found here in Iloilo later.
Here, I stop for the meantime. I am so sleepy that I can't hardly open my eyes wide. I just had an hour of sleep today that's why.

mas muka syang modern architecture kesa luma.

when in places like these, mas gusto ko yung feeling na parang bumabalik ako sa dating panahon.

ang pinakamalalang nadaanan ng baha ay sa pavia @ Dom. Medyo nagso-snow nga ng magpunta ako dun last sunday. snow of dust. hehehe. kung sasakay ka sa eroplano madaanan mo yan. I mean, daanan papunta sa new iloilo airport.

sige email kita.

its interesting how different the churches in iloilo are compared to their conterparts in ilocos. your structures are much lighter. does the pavia church have a belltower too?

RedLan said...

siguro meron @ caryn. baka sa likod. hindi ko nakita ang belltower sa harap.
