MAMBUKAL~ 2004

A pleasant 30 to 40 minute drive from Bacolod City takes you to Mambukal Mountain Resort on the northwest base of Mount Kanlaon, 1,200 feet above the sea level. Leave behind the hustle and bustle of urban living and enjoy the rustic scenery along the way, endless stretch of sugarcane fields and the breath-taking view of the approaching Mount Kanlaon. And, at the end of the journey, savor the cool fresh aor of Mambukal and feast your eyes at the irresistible beauty of the landscape and relish the panorama of what you left behind.

Mambukal represents the last virgin forest in Negros Occidental. It is crisscrossed by streams, boulders and rock formations. Along the way, hikers will see seven falls. The mountain streams and tributaries cascade through these falls, and flow through the center of the resort. You will hear the whirring of bats, which is actually a restful sound. You will even see the bats up high, as they like to sleep under the bare branches of the many tall and massive trees. These bats, when in repose (upside down, of course), look just like leaves of trees from a distance.

Not known to all, Mambukal Mountain Resort is not just a place of gateway. It is a bountiful site of wonders. Among them is the Hot Springs with sulfuric soda water. Bathhouse with spa famous to Japanese is supplied with hot and cold water from the springs. Known for its therapeutic treatment, people especially with body fatigue dip into it.

Believe me, I experienced it myself. And it was a great adventure. I love to go back there someday!
